I have decided that journaling online is useless when I already journal to my wife every day when I tell her basically everything. So I will use this blog to occasionally record my thoughts but I am gonna first try to maybe a few semi-regular articles. The first one I want to do is called Song Roulette. I am an avid music fan and love just listening to music whenever I have a chance. Sometimes there is a song that just strikes me as powerful. Typically this is because of lyrics but sometimes it revolves around the music and lyrics. In Song Roulette, I will put all my music on random and then write about whatever song plays that I think would be good to write about. This will be similar to one of those writing exercises in english class. I won't conform myself to only write during the length of the song, but I will will try to keep it brief so I can write about more then one song.
Freedom Reigns by Jason Upton
This song holds a very special place in my heart, but then again any song off of the Faith album by Jason Upton does. Faith was only the second worship album I remember listening too over and over(the first being Passion's Our Love Is Loud). I know every song on the cd and it always lifts my spirits and challenges me. This is also when I fell in love with Jason Upton. The message in his music and the lyrics he writes have always spoken to me. Possibly even to the point where I unconsciously tried to look like him(I have been told a few times that I look like him). I have always tried to catch his concerts and have seen him a few times at Onething at IHOP KC. Something about him just makes me feel like we sometimes connect to God in a similar way, which really helps me connect with God through worship.
